Past,Present, Future: Hope

Seems like just yesterday I was running in circles in the backyard playing on the swings not worrying about what tomorrow might bring Now everything's so hard I have traveled far beyond my own backyard The good and the bad fuse into one Sometimes I feel like I am coming undone I fall but I don't just get a scratch It's more difficult to get the puzzle pieces to match My mind can't seem to rest I am left wondering if I've done my best I look back and I see that smile that was not fake Back then it was not so hard to make When did I start letting the world take over Why have I been trying to carry it all on my shoulders People say live everyday like it's your last cause tomorrow comes too fast Now I know what they mean Life starts to catch up to you at eighteen I can see how much things have changed Everything around me has been rearranged But I can still remember her persistence That little girl on the swing will help me go the distance
