The Path

I could walk until my feet bleed
but that would divert my attention
from the stars that stare at me
and the tar that wants me to stick
just so it feels known for one whole second.
I could walk until my feet bleed
but that would mean bleeding on
a path that promises to save me
and I don't want to tarnish the hope
of something that could save me from this.
I could walk until my feet bleed
but that would deny the taxi driver
a fuckload of money
tearing cash from my emptying pockets
emptied on love and taste.
I could walk until my feet bleed
but I don't fucking have to.
