The Path of Gold
(Narrative poem)
I stand before you tonight.
To tell a tale from my past life.
I have shared it once years and years ago,
Now I share it to you for your next generation.
It led me down a path to my futures delight,
Hoping it'll help you just as so.
My father set me off when I was younge.
I set out to figure my past, and find my future.
The path was weary the path was long.
I wasn't directed I wasn't told.
But after a while, something shining bright.
I saw a road paved with gold.
The grass was greener and I could see the suns light.
I started down the newly paved road.
When I turned around.
I saw a man walking the opposite way.
A man not so old.
Walking down a path of unknown.
I asked the man,
"Why walk down to a place where the weather is harsh,
When here it is sunny and no rain is about?"
He gave a reply, " I do not wish to go down a path already paved, but to walk down a path of new.
To go my own way."
"But there is nothing but sand."
I said confused.
"But how do you know if no man has walked this path of land?
Don't go down the path of another's success.
Create your own.
But to create your own path of gold."
