A path to travel

I chug-a-lug down the track. Just like I'm supposed to. Going the path that was created for me. No wild adventure. Looking through the window brings memories. I kept my children in the caboose. Just like you mom. I learned to bring them up to coach. My mind has forgiven you. My heart stays complacent. My mouth blows smoke of compassion. But my body unsteering. No thanks to you I put my trust in a strange conductor. With no word from my father, i follow him into dark tunnels. Hoping for a white light at the end. Do you miss me mother? Or are you just alone. You took the cheapest ticket to a better life. Where did it leave you? You're still on a train with us in your caboose. My heart roars loud like an engine. Pacing fast, with sparks flying up. I'm racing. I end up where I was supposed to be. I had wished the conductor had led me differently. The same luggage. I consistently unload people at the station. But still I stay the same. Maybe it's me. I'll just chug-a-lug along. Where it's safe for me to be.
