PATHWAY OF REGRET

I looked around, I had been here before. Early morning hours, wintery white veil. Sparkling frost, everything faded pale. Levitating fog, just above the ground. Winding cedar path, curved ahead and round. Nothing but trees, as far as I could see. I stood there gazing, remembering everything. A swift chill, flowed right through me. I turned to avoid the shiver like ice. I seen him standing before me. I seen his passionate eyes. Reunited with a part of myself, I had longed for for sometime. We walked holding hands, leaving the chill behind. Embracing beauty on the land. Saturating the feeling, appreciating all we can. The glowing grey sky mirrored the pond near by. Its essence radiated the surface, ripples from the dragonfly's. We moved slowly, expressing without words. Staring frequently into each other's eyes. Everything felt that needed to be said. No spoken words, feelings so in depth. I felt us both express love and much regret. Mistakes that can take, you heart forever breaks. He and I reliving, no chance of another day. Looking past the eyes, with the reality kept in mind. Soon the time would come, that we would say goodbye. My heart ripped at the seam. For this was only a dream. I was sorrow stricken, grateful all in one. We remembered the things we missed. Thing's we could have done. Both engulfed in a romance, hindered by addiction. Battle never won. Careless and ungrateful, pain and exchanged infliction. Each day suppressed, Instead of making the best. Blinded by our actions, confusing satisfactions. Catastrophic ending, our health was decending. In a moment he was gone. Never to return, and everything is wrong. Together he and I, the trail and grayish sky. In a dream, just a dream. I cherish every time. We walked hand in hand, along the winding cedar path. The translucent fog was levitating just above the ground. The morning chill blew a swift breeze through me. I shivered, then embraced inside his arms. It was this love like a long lost part of myself I had been missing so long it seemed. The pond mirrored the grey sky, and brightened the lilies whiter. I reached for his hand and as we walked further I clenched and squeezed his and even tighter. Never would I let go if it were up to me Each step we took each moment that would be We made up for From a past we couldn't see Time, love, enjoying everything. Neither of us spoke any words. But telepathically shared our thoughts our eyes looked ever so deep. Something we could not resist He responded with a smile Pale blue eyes mesmerising like the ocean's abyss. My heart fluttered every time It had become one of my favorite things... I never expressed to another so much without having to say thing. I began to prefer this, and an appreciation for what words that were spoke, They seemed to have so much meaning. I looked back on the years and understood how many I spoke that were never thought through How many that were useless and how many untrue As we reached the end of the trail he and I looked again, deep into one another's eyes I gave him the look of regret and apology We both knew this was goodbye The serenity in the walk along the trail was one memory we once shared. No question as to the mistake we had made from the past when he was there. This was a blessing to have but only in a dream. We come together and it's a solid reminder how we don't appreciate everything Holding hands because we can, making more trips along the trails. Saying so much to express our love No useless words or tales. Knowing the depths from the captured gateway as you see so much to love Looking through there eyes that reflects a part of you and satisfaction that is enough. Today I await for the next time we meet If only I had taken advantage when he was mine. Life's journey can not be predicted and we don't know the length of time My dreams have become my most favorite part. I feel no pain in my still mourning soul and i'm become whole again in my heart If I could do it over I would savor each minute Right from the very start.
