Patience

As a kid, I learned the story between my aunt and her dove

I was in love with love because of their love story

Started at fourteen

Never even seen

Another one they considered as a love.

I craved that as a child, and into teenage years, love blossomed

I found love in so many places

Fell for him

For her

For them

And for all those faces

I felt lost.

I never found that love that was so infinite and considerate

Caring and passionate

Unending.

To this day I fear I’ll never find it

And as time passes by

I wonder why

I can’t find a way to be loved.

A woman came before me and

Through anger and immaturity

I found myself a liability

In love.

A man passed by

And as he did I found

My heart did fly

Directly into the ground.

Love is so careful and gentle

Love is kind and soft

Considerate and infinite

And until I find exactly that in them

I’ll find myself aloft.

And that’s okay, because I learn not to rush these things

They happen naturally and carefully

And until I find what my aunt and her love have,

I’ll patiently wait until I find my other half.
