Patient

My patience is flawless.

Unlike the hummingbird

Who flits and flutters

Around with no time to stop

And wait a while.

Unlike the children

Who incessantly question

The world until they

Receive their answer.

Unlike the river

That rages its way to the ocean,

Clawing at and eroding the bed around it.

Unlike time

That feels the need

To make you miss the days

When you were small

And happy.

The time that makes you miss

Yesterday

And soon tomorrow;

And at some point in the hopefully distant future,

While you feel the ravages of time deep within your bones,

Time will laugh at itself because it was too impatient to give you more of itself.

I am patient.

I am always patient.

Without fail, I wait.

Even when time decides to slow at the worst parts of life,

I wait; calm, content.

I live every day to its fullest by living with it.

I don't want time to speed up,

I would rather it slow down.

I want more time to wait for the future.

I want more time to be with my present.

I am flawlessly patient.
