Pay attention Teacher

For years you stood there looking

For years and years you did nothing more

As I sat in your class wanting to run out the door

I finally decided you were making school seem like a chore

The more I did the more you seem to have cooking

I hated the endless assignments that were nothing more than a bore

As I look back now I wondered did you even see

The me that was lost inside your class trying to find something more

All of a sudden now you notice me

I still sit wondering what does this woman want from me

The part where I describe sitting there wondering if what I am doing is enough for this teacher.

This poem is inspired by a teacher who made me wonder if I even existed in her clasrrom.
