Paycheck

Am I really just a Paycheck to my teachers?

Every day I sit behind a desk, being told this and that.

Being told it is what it is.

But never do my teachers want to be involved

They sit behind a desk

They give me a paper and tell me “Do it.”

No questions asked, I fill out the worksheet

I turn it in, receive it back graded.

Rinse and repeat for 12 years.

Congrats! You have a Diploma that says you know how to:

Sit down, Shut up, Listen and Study!

Not a diploma that says you actually learned.

Not at all!

Enough is enough! When will teachers realize?

We students are not just paychecks!

Stand up, get involved in your class.

Maybe when you do you’ll start hearing stuff like

“I can’t wait to go to Mrs. Smith’s class today!” or

“This Algebra class is a lot of fun!”

Maybe then, students will like learning again.

Maybe then, students will want to learn.
