Peace, an ever constant

The whole world Strives, debates, fantasizes The ever constant idea of peace Yet we the people Cannot join in harmony We as a country Cannot join in unity And the world Can’t even decide On a universal language So how is world peace Even a possible day dream? If we as a people Could learn to smile at a passing stranger Hold hands with a small child Feed someone less fortunate ourselves If we as a country Would stop emitting greenhouse gases Make friends with our enemies Build bridges across places Before impossible to cross If we as the world Could stop shooting bombs like fire stars Let down the borders of our countries And offer an olive branch With a small kiss and a smile Peace would be more than A dimming light bulb
