"Peace Offering"

I will bring you symbol of forgiveness, This war was never more- Than me remembering what we were. So I present it to you, Glowing and proud, Hoping you won't accept, Because hard feelings, And sides of regret, Come Only when you care. What if I smell your contempt in the air? Want at least a slight somber glaze, When you see my joyful smiling face. It's horrible, but it's true. You hurt me, Just want to see, If I hurt you. So I give you this offering, Something of a Trojan horse. With my deceitful peace, I march towards your city, But to my dismay, Suddenly I am glass. You see right through me, And your clean gaze meets me with pity.
