Peacefully Fires

I remember myself outside, sitting in the garage, at night

66 degrees weather rolled down onto the night, not all is silent

It provided for the houses near and far to burn down to the earth

Yes, 66 degrees weather still let the houses burn down near me

A protest in my neighborhood sparked, creating much tension

I watch as people were chanting, screaming, begging for justice

Wrecking buildings, storming businesses, taking possessions

Encourage the homeless to take charge, burning old houses

They don’t care, they want what they want, no turn backs

The people painted the town boiled red, bare blue, maybe black

Red was boiling, blue was sudden, black was uncertain

I saw it all, all the blood, sweat and tears of the people

I sat in the comfort of my home, smoking as the world burns

The daily news I get is minding myself and business

I do feel sore about all that is happening around me

Even I want to do something about it, but

I rather let time tell to the people what they should do, not me

I am watching the world burn, while I watch in peace

Quietly, right in my own home.
