the peach tree

i gave myself to you as if i was the ocean

with all my serenity, calm, peacefulness

with all my riptides, currents, storms

and you were there

i offered myself to you as if i was a fruit tree

blooming, beautiful, fresh

providing shade through the harshest heat

but you were not there

you did not eat the fruit i gave you

instead you smashed it onto a concrete floor

disregarded it as if it was nothing to you, as if i couldn't see

and i was there

you starved without the fruit

i had given you everything i had

you had broken my branches to kill off every piece until you realized you needed me

but i was not there.
