Peak of Innocence

It's a feeling when you are infinite.

Some express it with their new music playlist

that makes them feel like dancing through the night.

Some feel it when they are with their friends,

cruising down the dirt road with the sunset behind them,

not knowing where they are going.

Others get it when they're showing off their new piece of art

at the school's environmental and art fair.

It is when you feel

proud

happy

audacity

sempiternal

insouciance

inspired

free

that you feel most alive.

The time before you see the world a different way.

I have found you experience this a lot when you're

at the peak of your childhood.

About fourteen or fifteen

when you can be a child and an adult at the same time.

Me?

It's when I'm watching '80's movies or

hanging out with my friends as I watch the sunset

that I am

all of the things

I have dreamed of being.

It's the key to life-

to never lose your innocence

of everything.

That you should enjoy the people around you

the sky

books

nights

and yourself.

I'm almost fifteen

and I have already fallen in love

with being alive.

I hope you will and do, too.
