Peaks and Valleys

Peaks and Valleys

Highest peaks of elation rise but are far and few between

Senses are sharp and words burst like torpedoes from lips

Quick to point out others’ faults to redirect their attention

Trying so hard

Lowest valleys are most turbulent

Entrenched deep in the shadows with no end in sight

Deafening silence goes without notice

Torn up inside

Longing for a the warmth of loving arms

A gentle touch and whispers of forever

There is no understanding the tormented soul

Waiting anxiously

Giving yourself again to the rising sun

Only the push of will lifts your head off the pillow

Every ounce of energy is summonsed

Struggling to move

To face another day seemingly alone

Four walls try to keep you

Determination frees you to engage

You have conquered
