Pearl
This upcoming year is going to be very different.
You see, I won't be dreading the classes and new teachers as much as I will be scared of being on my own for the first time.
I am going to go to college, in the fall, yet this weird feeling has risen inside me.
Nervousness.
Oh, how I just want it to leave.
I cringe at the feeling,
And I'm nervous to meet new people.
What if I don't meet their expectations,
What if I don't meet HIS expectations?
Oh man, this is really a rough life.
I don't know what I am going to do socially,
I mean, what if I get rejected?
Oh that's life, my heart taking a knife.
Hey there, it's me, your conscious, and I was just going to let you know it was going to be all right.
Right? More like yeah right.
Grades, being alone,
Actually having to talk on the phone.
Hey now, don't you groan, you'll be solid like a stone.
Really? Are you sure? I can't imagine myself not freaking about every little thing.
What if I get sick,
I don't have the cure.
Calm down, have trust and faith in yourself.
Life and a new school is everything nowadays and you'll find people who like you.
You're cool,
You're funny,
You're cute.
You just have to be more confident in who you are.
But how is anyone going to like me, like I can't even drive a car.
Stop worrying about the little things, those are like phases, little flings.
I guess you're right.
I should be more confident in who I am.
No one but me should be my biggest fan,
Even if I have to cram,
Or for dinner eat a ham.
I'm cool, I'm no clam.
Although all I have to do is look in the mirror and give myself a twirl,
I'm an oyster opening it's shell,
Showing the world I really am a pearl.
