Pearl

Dear Pearl,

This is the story in which I met you...

The wind brushed the angelic hair, similar to clouds floating by,

A sweet orange butterfly found peace atop her shoulder.

Turning around slowly, her heaven-like eyes met mine.

Her face was peace, an unfamiliar vision to me;

Before her, all I saw was fire.

I mistook her for the woman who came from the sea.

My heart hopeless, and at her disposal!

My heart, then, was imprisoned with admiration.

“Follow her close” was all that I heard.

I give her good watch, day in and day out,

I pray you. Give her good watch indeed.

And the hell that my soul was confined to;

The cement grave dug by my own hands,

Gave no evil efforts to restrain me;

No sir not to thee,

For she is my Aphrodite.
