The Pearl Necklace

How will I grow?

This is something I had asked myself every day.

Oh, when I was a little girl,

I used to dream of day that I would be able to wear a pearl.

I remember looking at long haired heads that where balanced on a bodies that looked "oh so perfect and slim" they said.

When I was a little girl,

I did not know what beauty was.

All I new was that the pretty girl would always get the appluase.

When I was a little girl,  I carried this weight all through school,

Up until I was in my last days of highschool.

I remember having to get my picture taken.

I sat down and was handed a jewel.

The jewel that I dreamed of wearing when I was a little girl.

This precious peice called a pearl.

I found a mirror and saw a long haired beauty queen,

Looking at her as her curves fit perfectly into her new blue jean.

I looked in the mirror and realized that I was looking at my very own reflection.

I became the girl that my younger self dreamed of becoming.

Days pased and I received my applause as I took the paper that told me I was grown.

I felt great, I felt happy, and I felt known.

Oh how fast did the time go.

Yesterday I was that little girl, and now I have become a women.

All that I can think of now is....how else will I grow?
