Pearls

I’ve always wondered about

the life of a sailor.

The extra dosage of sea salt,

the feeling of both emptiness and fullness

at the same time.

Seeing nothing but dark blue

contrasted by high blue.

You’d think she’d be tired of it by now.

The fish are her company

and the wind makes the decisions for her.

Her days consist of similar events.

Waking up to the alarm clock of

rugged ocean waves.

Looking down below the sea,

she finds no pearls.

She finds another shade of blue,

and looks the ocean in the face,

for she owes no man.
