The Pea's Peril

Minding my own business (like a good pea) was I.

Until I heard the door open, and then a big sigh.

Under the mattress, to my hiding place I went.

I heard a castle employee- by the queen they'd been sent.

I stayed statue still, as quiet as a mouse.

But then, put on top of me, was the weight of a house!

More mattresses were added, maybe eight, maybe ten.

They added the princess, and I knew I was finished then.

In her quest to jump through every royal hoop,

The princess instead ended up with pea soup.
