A Peculiar Mix

They told me I appear as a concrete wall,

Never bending or straining under the immense weight of society.

They told me I'd be voted Least Caring, an award coveted by those who see themselves as the only important things on this earth.

I listened and took them in, those who critiqued me and told me off,

Those who saw without seeing, who heard without listening.

I sheltered them deep in my heart, giving them warmth and comfort when they were left out with only their thoughts,

And I hugged them tight when all they wished was to drown in their thoughts.

I became the silent leader for those who refused to listen,

I helped those who wouldn't see.

Although shy and introverted, I strive to make society see what the future can hold,

I fall and I blunder but I make my opinions shown.

They still say I look like a stoic face, an uncaring wanderer,

But I don't speak out about what they say,

Because those who know are those that understand.
