Pen and Paper
This is the only way I feel understood.
I feel safer when I write.
I can never run out of chances on a notepad. Everything I say can be erased. All the words I use
Are exactly the words I need. I’m not on a timeline here.
I don’t have to meet anyone’s short deadlines, or create some seemingly witty response on a
Whim. I can think. I can just be.
Carefully select each word, and use it to its full capacity.
I feel endless in this realm.
The work that I create here seems timeless in the moment.
I can be transcendent and poetic, raw and honest at the same time.
The world outside is so judgmental, but this parchment never says a word.
My pen feels my pain and cries with me in the form of ink in the notebook.
Society tries to hand me sympathy, comfort me, and make me feel like a victim.
But this paper just listens. Never offering any sort of condolence in return.
