Pencil and Paper
It isn’t the words that speak to you, but the meaning behind them
It enchants a small mind and makes it brighter
It sparks interest in a place there was none before
It gives you rhythm and rhyme
It makes you think of the impossible and grasp the unthinkable
It makes light shine where there was none
It gives hope to the hopeless and determination to the weak
It makes you thirst for a brighter future
It makes you run farther or it makes you turn around
It’s like color to the blind and music to the deaf
It restores light and removes darkness
It teaches and it inspires
The inspiration flows like music in a symphony
The smooth notes floating through the air
You can feel the power as it’s read
You can feel the impact as it’s heard
Poetry is like no other
It gives life to the lifeless
And restores motion to the motionless
Even a hard person cannot resist its power
Instead they get up and run with it
It brings tears to dry eyes and dries the tear stricken face
You can feel it in your veins and your bones
There’s nothing like it
You can choose what to do with it
You can enchant or you can scare
You can bring hope or you can bring despair
You can bring tears or you can bring joy
It’s all up to you on what you want to portray
No one can hold you back if that’s what you want to say
There’s no limits on what you can bring
All you really need is imagination
There’s no telling to what you can do with a little pencil and some paper
You can bring a colorless world to life
There’s no need to see it but you can believe it
All you have to do is close your eyes and you can feel it
You can live in an inexistent world because of the words of a small poem
Written on the pages like lyrics to some music
And though the world doesn’t have to know
You can be the master of your own
Bringing color to a hopeless situation
And a life to some who don’t have one
And that is the power of a poem
Simple but real words on a page
Can do more than words can ever explain
And just a small smile can be the reason
We right with such passion
And that’s how we know that with pencil and paper we can do anything
