Pencil Shavings

Words fly from your mind onto the page.

There is no stopping when you have set your mind ablaze.

Pencils are made for writing,

but what really counts, is whats on that page.

Disputes have been won, they have been lost.

Arguments emanate by simple letters joined together to be called an insult.

Compliments turn into love letters, and win the heart of a loved one.

Words gather into an array of adjectives and nouns,

words full of hatred, love, or desire.

They can lead people.

They can hurt people.

They can provoke people to do unlikely acts.

All the leaders were poets with their words,

although not all were doing good.

They could control people with a simple speech,

Mesmerized by the words in which they preach.

But is not a speech, but a poem?

All words said and writen are humans' ways of poetry.

Generations have passed and the art of poetry may have changed,

But the concept is still the same.

We write what we think,

We express what we believe.

So is poetry just more than a concept?

It is our life in which we preach with words unknowingly,

And poetry is our voice in which we write.

Our indent in history is made from words in which we have expressed who we are.

Poetry is our voice.

And it can be heard.

I write poetry to express myself, in more than just my voice to speak.

Those who read it, leave with a little part of me.

And they share what they believe,

Just by using poetry.

So when you hesitate to make your mark,

Just let your pencil fly and write your poetry.

That is why poetry is apart of me.
