penury's song
For every moment wasted, and every loving word unsaid,
There is a tragedy never-ending,
A tattered book that goes unread.
For every piercing outcry, and every fatal wound,
There is a heart that is never-mending,
A melody that goes uncrooned.
For every child hurting, and every voice that is unheard,
There is a life force ever-waning,
A penury absurd.
For every hope-filled ambition, and every lucid dream undone,
There is a consquence devestating,
Enriching the lives of few to none.
For every picture frame unhung, and every photograph never taken,
There is a hopeless end in coming,
A withering future dies, forsaken.
