People

If I was the only one,

would I really be there?

Seven billion people,

I'm a mere particle of dust in this world,

without the Earth's fiery core

and the sky, a constant comfort,

would I really be there?

Without the bustle, the birds, babies and bees,

without the dogs and the dolphins and the diamonds

the people that I see on the street,

would I really be there?

the question is,

what can you not live without?

but I think it should be,

how do you know you are living?

because without that human, mundane comfort,

that we aren't the only ones,

and that reassurance of our existence through the people around us,

I would be lost in myself,

and I think that's the most important thing in my miniscule,

material,

life.
