People Break Behind Closed Doors

Crash!

The door slammes, fitting perfectly in the shivering door frame.

The lights remain off

While the house collapses into silence

The table remains set even though one glass is missing

Shards scatter themselves on the floor

While they bleed red wine over the recently cleaned tile.

The rain continues knocking on the windows, asking to come in

As if the atmosphere within the house wasn’t already desolate and cold.

The house not the home.

The door creaks while the light slipping under it are obstructed.

A cry ricochets off the walls.

Comparable to the world being torn apart as if it were paper.

Another piece torn away, another cry

Another cut, another drop of blood.

The door squeals while another cry scolds the rain for wanting in.

Lights dance across the floor while movement accompanis more cries.

The light disappears, the rain stops knocking, the cries stop echoing.
