People People

People will pat the dirt

That just covered

Your body…

With a smile on their face.

People aren’t humans anymore.

They’re finely pressed suits

With Rolexes, or eyes

Staring at a blinking cursor.

People aren’t people.

They aren’t locked hands

Or strong embraces.

They are gnashing of teeth.

They are weeping

Into pillows they doused

With chloroform

Just to find rest.
