The People We Are
The person I am today is not who I want to be.
The person I am today is not who I truly am because I am incomplete
And I will continue to be incomplete until you are standing next to me.
The person you are today
Makes all of the gray fade away.
The person you are today makes me want to be a better me.
The person you are today has given me something to hold on to,
Something to love, something to cherish
Possibly until I perish.
The person I was yesterday
Just wanted to run away.
Because people do not care what I have to say
Yet I say it anyway.
Maybe all I am is a vessel but you cannot just throw me away.
And eventually I will decay but my thoughts will be portrayed
Every single passing day until then.
The person that you are
Has made me stop seeing an ordinary tar black sky,
The person you are has given me sight
Of a bright and shimmering star.
You are the star that gives me light
Even from a far,
I want to be where you are because you are my star,
You are my wish come true.
You are the person I turn to and upon review
I have come to the conclusion that I haven't made a mistake because
We will not break,
And we will be together,
Regardless of how long it will take.
The person that you are gives me direction.
When I look at my reflection and I see my flawed complexion
I feel content.
My objection is no longer to achieve a physical perfection.
The person you are makes me forget my flaws.
Because of you they disappear.
Because of you I no longer fear rejection of the irrelevant.
The love I feel for you is severe
And I refuse to let anyone or anything interfere.
The person I am has a tendency to perceive things a little differently.
I'm scared of being affected negatively.
When it comes to reality I rarely see actuality.
I see the good,
However the good I tend to see is exaggerated.
Perhaps I am only infatuated by the you that I myself created
And I am not okay with that.
It is not okay for me to become so easily captivated,
Because then I am alone.
I become agitated because I am so afraid of the you,
That I see ceasing to be.
The person I am loves you.
The person I was yesterday loved you.
The person I'll be tomorrow will love you,
From top to bottom,
Inside and out
