Perdita (lost)
Many may know me as the girl with no smile
Which only disappeared as I walked down the aisle
To see my mother for the very last time
Was all it took to turn my once perfect smile into a frown full of grime
My name may be Perdita which I rarely heard
For nobody seemed to care about me as if I were a bird
As my days went passed and my age grew longer
I longed for answers which I couldn’t receive from my father
So now I will begin to tell my tale as I sure you seem to wonder
How such a girl could end up being chained with insane people as loud as thunder
The day I turned eighteen was the day that I decided
Soon I would find who I was and feel real excited
It was easier than I thought to slip out of the house
I tiptoed out as if I were a mouse
Never caring at all if I saw that place once more
I ran as far and fast as I could out the door
To run face to face to a guy I had seen before
Who once tried to take me as a child but not once more
He still wore that hat ever so mighty
With that face that you knew was very flighty
The one I’ve never forgotten as a child
That still to this day you could tell he wasn’t beguiled
As I walked by him I shivered as if I’d seen a ghost
For I was afraid that he would take me again at the most
He’d call me Alice which still remains strange
For I can look at myself several times never seeing his Alice causing me such derange
Once more I was gone as quite as lighting
To never be treated with such reuniting
I saw birds and bees and even the tallest trees that I’d never seen before
Everything seemed different now that I was free causing tears to pour
For I had missed out on so many interesting things
That I’m sure my mother would have wanted me to see
Oh how beautiful the world is when you can see many things up high in a tree
You can view the mountains and birds of every color plus the pretty blue of the sky
Sometimes it made me even want to fly
I felt time drawing near and knew I must hurry if I ever planned to arrive
To the place I’d been born
So I could find where I had started to make me reborn
When I got closer to the hospital I noticed it had fallen
Leaving me feeling very broken hearted
Then as if everyone cared they began to crowd me
Giving me hugs and warming gifts as to be
Cheerful people I could learn to trust
But little did I know they weren’t just
Because soon later they brought me to this group of people
They were definitely not from the steeple
For they all looked a tad bit insane
But I’m sure to some they were arcane
As they brought me closer
My heart began to stop
Because all the freedom I’d just received was gone in a hop
I begged and pleaded to not be placed on those chains
But I received no attains
For they call me crazy
And now you can see that I was just looking to find myself
Sorry I got emotional over the building not existing
You make it hard not to be hissing
For all I was trying to do was find myself
So now you can tell I’m not as insane as they say
Just a little lost in a way
