Perfect
When people ask me what it's like
I never know how to reply
Do I tell them of the ugly cross-eyed creature
Who was also my mother's keeper
Do I tell them of the sleepless nights?
How often I gave up the fight?
Of red-rimmed, tear-stained eyes
Of laying numb and counting the hours
Of misunderstood supernatural powers
Asleep well past the witching hour
Would they understand?
What goes on inside my head.
Quiet, shameful fear
Srlf-loathing and goading just to be here
Here in this deep bottomless pit
Not of a peach or plum or damson so fair
A pit
With no end in sight
Of no will to fight
No sight of the future or past
You are alone. Stuck in your bubble of pain and fright
Stuck in your bubble of numb
Bittersweet, not bubblegum
Of Isolation
Of Temptation
Peering over your own hypothetical edge
No bars to hold back from your ledge
When they ask me what is wrong
I will reply that I am fine
For what good is it to whine
To sit back and cry
To pour out my heart and soul and mind
To only be denied
The comfort that I crave so near
But won't recieve because of my own damn fear
So I smile and put on a brave face
Becasue that's what they told me
What they sold me
How they trained me
They didn't raise me
To be imperfect.
