The Perfect Man
Narcissus was a man
In love with a fake ideal
Convinced of the gravity of filters
Sliding across his face
Creating perfect skin
The perfect man.
Narcissus was a vain man
In love with a phony version of himself
Convinced it was real
Devouring all emotion
Reflecting a distorted perfection
The perfect man.
Narcissus was a callous man
And he typed to his young admirer
Convinced young Aminias
Of his ugly face and skin and body
Through the protection of a screen
The perfect man.
Narcissus was a cold man
So he forgot
The young Aminias who he had shamed
Of his ugly face and skin and body
Through the protection of a screen
The perfect man.
Narcissus was a witless man
In love with a new location to photograph himself
Ignorant of the Aminias the Angry
Coming up from behind and taking a picture
The unflattering picture of
The perfect man.
Narcissus was a broken man
When he saw the picture of himself online
That young Aminias used to shame him
With his ugly face and skin and body
Through the protection of a screen
The perfect man.
Narcissus was a hopeless man
In love with a lie
A stranger to the truth
So he walked to the river to look
At the reflection
The perfect man.
Narcissus was a suffocated man
Falling into the cold depths
As the water bloated and ruined
His perfect face and skin and body
And took away the life of
The perfect man.
