perfect, NOT ME
her cacoon is see through
inside she's a busy caterpillar
her goal is perfection
big nose, fix it
no curves, fix it
too short, fix it
she's busy working away,
frustrated with what she can't fix
thick lips, nappy hair
brown skin, smart mouth
she can't help it
but wish she can change it
she looks in the mirror,
deep into her own eyes
& she can see her soul
her soul is crying
but something sparkles deep,
deep within her soul
hope is sparkling
trying to break through,
as she comes to realize,
it thrives & thrives
thrashing anything in its way
you won hope
so as she steps from her cacoon
she is the same as the way she came
no alters, no filters
just her
