The Perfect Tree

I stand before a perfect tree, King of all trees, I’m sure it must be Oh tree, so tall and strong, To be like you, how much I long. To stand upright when life is tough As if life is not unfair enough. You weather the pain like it’s not there When truly, it is everywhere Oh tree, soon you will die And few living things will deign to cry. Yet you stand their tall and strong Without a worry that it is wrong How you do it, only you truly know To look at the pain and simply say, “so?” Someday I will die, just like you But I, I will cry, it’s what I know I will do Child, that is wrong, so very wrong I am not a hero, that to be many long The pain is real; for me and you The only difference is what we will do Everyone dies, of course that is true But do not think I’ll die braver than you I’m embarrassed of my feelings so I hide them it’s true But the pain is there for me and for you
