A perfect world
They sit there in silence,
Their feet dangling over the dock,
Once in a while, her hand rubs on the old platform,
Her fingers rake on the rough surface,
It’s ancient, sleezy, old but warm,
But she doesn’t care.
It was their secret place,
The sacred one.
He was her secret passage,
To the other world,
The world that he created for her.
A world with no discrimination,
A world where secrets are rare,
A world where love is cherished
and cared,
A world that celebrates her existence,
A world that can mend her despair.
Flocks of birds chirping hover over their heads,
Disrupting their atmosphere,
They both glance up to the orange sky,
Continuing to gaze into the sunset,
Losing themselves in thoughts.
She swings both her arms happily
up in the air,
Then she shouts, “I’m not just breathing like everyone else”.
Breaking the silence between them.
“I live”. She continues. There is a twinkle in her eyes.
He looks at her and smiles.
From that moment, he knows for sure that he has created a perfect world for her.
A perfect world for them.
