The Performance

The Performance

The lights are bright

the performer takes the stage mic clenched in hand

the cymbal starts

time seems to stand still

anxiety is building

heart beating faster than ever

their mouth opens

the crowd quiets down

time stands still

then an eruption

a powerful blast louder than ever

the words flow like water

the heart beats louder and louder

minutes pass that feels like seconds

then scilence

an ocean of people

all chearing as a wave of sound washes over him

and he feels the joy that only a performance can bring

the lights dim as he bows

and he leaves.
