Perhaps

A single leaf blurs in my vision and awakes me from my sleep.

I see the earth in a new light and can’t help but think,

Why was I born?

Why am I here?

And why was I put on this earth?

Thoughts race through my mind until it starts to clear,

And finally I realize what was blindly in front of me.

I am me.

I am myself.

And the world tilts a little.

I watch from a distance as chaos erupts,

Exploding and bubbling out from within,

The earth is covered by a thin fog,

Erasing all thoughts and decisions.

Terror strikes down and gobbles up all,

Leaving nothing and everything in it’s wake,

How can we live like this?

A thought forms in my head.

Destroying all that we find,

And tearing away the sweetness of beauty.

We are what we are.

But can we change it?

No we can’t, it’s far too late for that.

So with great sadness I must admit,

That all this destruction we all do deserve.

And with that I bid my goodbyes to you sir,

Perhaps we’ll meet again one day,

But for now we must depart.

As I watch from a distance,

I wonder all of this,

And perhaps what I may perceive is all just a lie,

But I wonder.

Do you not?

For if you don’t, just keep in mind,

How will you repay for your own destruction?
