Perhaps

Perhaps we were just hopeless dreams

Of a forgotten mind.

Perhaps we were just misplaced anger

When we were supposed to be kind.

Perhaps we were just forgotten wishes

Of a younger child’s soul.

Perhaps we should have moved ahead

Instead of observing the goal.

Perhaps we should have moved slower

When we needed to analyze.

Perhaps we should have seen the scene

From another person’s eyes.

Perhaps we should have listened

With more than just our ears.

Perhaps we should have fought

Against more than just our fears.

Perhaps we could have saved someone

Before we let them go.

Perhaps we should have done these things,

But these events were ages ago.
