Perhaps...

I awoke beside a stranger.

She must have been my lover

For I hate to sleep alone.

I wish that night lasted forever

Or love as well for that matter.

She seemed a dream to me

A mirage, almost eternal.

Yet I know that cannot be.

Love does not last forever,

Sometimes only for a night.

But perhaps one night’s enough

To pass till morning light.
