perhaps they stole you from

perhaps they stole you from you

inserting themselves in your arms

so there’d be no room for you to comfort yourself

leaving your heart vulnerable

your head putty in their hands

your eyes locked on theirs

perhaps you knew

perhaps while you fade into darkness

a light sparks in your head

of all the sirens blaring in your face

that you chose to ignore

putting off the dangers to only hold something close

perhaps you are the only who held your head under

perhaps it’s been such a long time since you seen yourself

you don’t recognize it

perhaps your neglected being couldn’t stand watching

you loving something more than yourself
