Perils of College

You don’t know me

How can you know me when you can barely remember my name

I hate these gargantuan lecture halls where you speak to me through a microphone

Be real! Know my name!

All I want is for you to know my name

I never used to care whether a teacher knew me, but that’s because I knew that they all loved me

I miss high school where life was so easy compared to now

Where what was taught in lecture actually related to the homework

Where tests made sense and A’s were possible

Where I mattered

To make me feel loved, encourage me

speak up, speak out, reach out

leave everything else on the blackboard and just get to know me.
