As exposed to the perils of the world
Thus, we begin our journey.

I love this part of the journey:
Of nodded heads and friendly shoulder pats
Of friends met by dawn
And normally a friend ill-met by moonlight

As exposed to the perils of the world
Thus, we begin our journey.

Our journey proceeds
Through mountains and valleys
Reaching into the southernmost reaches
Of our kingdom in imagination

I hate this part of the journey:
On the gentle incline toward our end
When friends are lost and evil creatures
Are ill-met by daylight, moonlight, twilight

As exposed to the perils of the world
Our journey draws to a close.

At the peak of this figurative mountain…

We slay the dragon, save the girl
Defeat the tyrant, procure the treasure
Help a friend, rescue a kingdom
So many things we have done
Acknowledged, not for one.

We are heroes of silence
In this world of imagination
No one knows our names
Be as it may

As exposed to the perils of the world
Our journey has ended
But it is one I would traverse again
For those mere moments of

Smiles, pats, friends
Meetings and solemn ends
Monsters and chance
At happenings gone askance

These are our lives
To do or to die
As exposed to the perils of the world,
May your journey begin anew.
