The Perks of Being an Undergrad

I’m an undergrad student
In a community filled with
Leaders
In a community of scholars
I’m a undergrad student
Who leads by example

I’m an undergrad student
I save thousands of dollars!
I’m a undergrad student
I’m sure you’ll agree
That’s why they’ll give me my degree.

One more year
Just wait on it
I’m an undergrad student
It’s a fun and enriching experience
Going to campus events
Getting involved in organizations
Being a college student
Is a lot of work
Lot of expectations
But guess what?
I can do it
I will reach to the finish line
And earn my Bachelors
of Arts in English.

Mom’s Heart

Here, my mom died, killed by the diagnosis of cancer

-the funeral consists
Of beautiful pink roses. In this picture,
There goes a woman laying
Her head against a beam
The thought that there was no more
Human in her body

Seeing her eyes closed
This grief’s too vast for me
Her photograph touches my heart
Noticing how breathtaking it
was to have her on this Earth.
I think of how my day
Has risen
Just like my brother said
She has risen
As long as I stay strong,
She will always remain in my heart.

Our memories will never die
I try to live my life
Like she would want me to.
