the perks of being a wallflower -

how many times I've heard that title -

how many times I've heard that line -

as if it were a good thing

as if being a wallflower were okay

as if you could stand it

the people who read this book

and romanticize it

haven't ever been the wallflower

they've been the lilies

in the middle

the centers of attention

being a wallflower is not romantic

it is not fun

it is not thrilling -

the only points where Charlie enjoys himself are when he overcomes his state -

when he ceases to be a wallflower

when he finally becomes more

I am still a wallflower

I am still stuck with less

but maybe less is more

and I just don't know

how to deal with it yet
