Permanent Bruise

He caresses her hair,

Whispering sweet nothings into her ear.

She thinks this is love.

So she doesn’t pressure him to use the glove.

Their bodies intertwine,

Their souls connect and they become one mind.

After it’s complete and they both reach their peak,

He kisses her on the forehead and leaves her between the sheets.

She thinks that he is her soul mate,

But to him this was just a date.

She goes to get checked out,

Since her lover has checked out.

Her body becomes numb,

And hears the words that she never wanted to become.

You’re positive for HIV.

Her heart stops,

And then her whole body drops.

From the pain, the lies, and the deceit.

Baby I love you, were just words so he could beat.

Her most prized possession was abused and misused,

Leaving her with a permanent bruise.

She now tells her story to the youth of today,

Making sure that they don’t give their life away.
