Perpetual Fluke


A momentary breach One tail emerges out Glistening as a few droplets careen up, seeking the safety of air, only to collapse downwards, hopeless The salt seeps through pores, cutting at blubber, layers and layers of it Un- deviating, the p A momentary breach One tail emerges out Glistening as a few droplets careen up, seeking the safety of air, only to collapse downwards, hopeless The salt seeps through pores, cutting at blubber, layers and layers of it Un- deviating, the pod swims, perpetual Do they have an ultimate goal in mind, or do they swim to swim Questions fruitless, no need for them in wet chambers, and where all voices rising are swallowed by the waves (or maybe swallowed by the whales) Mirrors hide from others under the egret’s crests, reflecting the hulkingly poised beasts Gentle striations weaved into the cetacean’s calmly curved form undulate as murmurs steam through the water Sudden! Blowholes compete for height, whistl- ing to the clouds, moistening the sky, a dramatic release that calms the whales, somehow Nothing can hinder sized wonders such as these, but if David shot them down no doubt they would still glide, effortless, lacking a care Not that they mind lacking a care Care pulls worry in it’s tow, they’d say, and drift their Worn Fanciful Quixotic flukes, with nonchalance perfected A second hoists hope for another levitated second, alas the tail cymbals into the blue, a surprisingly forceful retreat, hmm, one more mystery However mystic, the whale will no matter, resurface, one constant in an unknown chain, unwavering.
