Persephone

She used to love the spring

With its flowers and its rain

There was a man she knew

Like winter

He was cold and bleak

like being curled up by the fireside

He was a wind that cuts through you

Like children catching snowflakes on their tongues

He was trudging through snow up to your hips

Like decorating a Christmas Tree

light flakes drifted to the ground

She hoped for a long winter
