Persephone and The New World

It was time to make a change and shedding his blood would surely silence.

Persephone reached across the table pushing food aside with no desire.

She grabbed the powerful dagger and moved quick to replace him.

Countless years of suffering had passed and today she would be free.

Hades finally defeated she traveled back to the surface.

Wondering how this land had lost all of its purpose.

Humans all around her had taken the Earth apart.

She didn’t recognize her home and had no idea where to start.

There were buildings standing tall and satellites above the sky.

Everything moving fast with people in machines speeding by her.

Planes replaced birds with wings made of metal.

Animals looked for homes where there used to be Spring rentals.

People looking down at tiny little boxes.

Movement was still there but no longer much talking.

Tears filled her eyes as she looked around the world.

She realized her beauty would never withstand this ordeal.

She grew a tree and planted beautiful flowers and sat.

Pondering for hours how this happened and how to get it back.

Was it better where she was blinded by the darkness down below.

Was it too late to change their ways and make the Earth glow.
