Persephone's Lipstick

Persephone bent forward over the sink,

twisting the barrel of her lipstick.

Red spilled over the rim, traced her lips,

and then she returned it shut with a soft click.

Her heels clasped, her pocketbook too,

the ruler of the underworld was prepped

to go out and grab a brew.

The sun was down,

the stars were out,

she and her friends were ready for a night on the town.
