The Person Beneath The Mask

There was once this boy trapped in a body that was assigned to him, but never designed to fit his personality. He screamed out in his head at the top of his lungs, "When am I allowed to be me?!!" As he began to reveal his true identity, he was given remarks that weren't made to encourage him, they were more likely to tear him down. Confining him to his gender-assigned body and saying his birth name freely as if this mistake was okay to live with. He wants to be free, like a butterfly out of its cacoon, like a baby out of the womb, like the stars that surround the moon. Craving so desperately to be loved and accepted, but also respected by those he accepts. This is not confusion or a phase, this is who he is and who he always will be. This might be abnormality because this is not what people assume or expect. Corrupting his thoughts with their ignorant questions, not enough "he's" and "his". Distracting him from pure bliss, causing him to sulk in his guilty pleasures and forget his innocence ever existed. Waiting to take off this mask of society's desires and open his eyes to his true smile; something he's always admired. He's taking off his mask. I am that boy. I am Adrian.
